Charles E. Burchfield (1893-1967), Bats at Twilight, 1963; watercolor on paper, 38 x 48 inches; Image from the Burchfield Penney Art Center Archives
Hidden Treasures was conceived with a dual purpose: to celebrate the mastery of Charles Burchfield, whose vision remains at the heart of the Center as its inspiration and purpose, and to share with the public those works in private collections of the area that are rarely seen. We wish to pay tribute to the generous collectors who have agreed to share this legacy.
