Collector Charles Rand Penney of Lockport, New York owned one of the most extensive Niagara Falls print collections in the world. His prints, which dated from the late seventeenth century through the twentieth century, reveal different artistic impressions of this stunning natural phenomenon that has always characterized the sublime. Penney’s nephew, Christopher Lane, proprietor of the Philadelphia Print Shop, Ltd., selected works for this exhibition and contributed an essay for the catalog.
