Participants bring their own supplies
Illustrate a fairytale, an alternate author’s work, or a passage from your own writing in your unique style, with guidance from Jennifer Koury, a published children’s book author and illustrator. This mixed-media-based workshop series encourages participants to explore storytelling through visual art. You’ll begin to learn layout techniques with book design in mind: considering size and proportion, the repetition of color or shapes for rhythm and design, and the integration of typography. Please bring your favorite children’s book of any type or genre to share with the class for inspiration and to spark discussion. Feel free to use watercolor, drawing, pastel, ink, collage, or any other media you enjoy working with. All art supplies must be provided by the participant.
