About the Author
Born in Rochester, NY, Susan Nusbaum earned a BA from Smith College and a JD from the University at Buffalo Law School. She lives in Buffalo, NY, where she raised her family and has worked as a musician, teacher, arts administrator, and, most recently, an attorney.
Nusbaum is the author of five poetry collections. Her first three collections, What We Take With Us, Open Wide, the Eye, and Alive in This Place, were published by Coffeetown Press in 2014, 2016, and 2019, respectively. Her fourth collection, This Uncertain Voyage, was released by Coffeetown Press in January 2024. Her newest collection, Sign Language, has been recently released.
Her poetry has appeared in numerous publications, including The Connecticut River Review, Poetry East, Woven Tale Press, Nimrod International Journal, Chautauqua Literary Journal, Calliope, Chautauqua, Harpur Palate, Wisconsin Review, and The Sow’s Ear, as well as A Celebration of Western New York Poets (2014) and The Buffalo News.
Nusbaum has presented her work in solo public readings in communities throughout the Northeast and Florida.
