The Pappy Martin Legacy Jazz Collective and Burchfield Penney Art Center celebrate the birthday of one of the greatest saxophone players of all time at the annual John Coltrane jazz festival! A virtuosic lineup of jazz all-stars join COLTRANE Celebration Music Directors George Caldwell and Curtis Lundy, with opening performances by The Love Supreme School of Music Student & Faculty Band.

Cooper infused his vibrant and expressive paintings with the rhythmic and harmonic complexities of jazz music and layered stories. This year’s COLTRANE Celebration commemorative poster is a special limited edition print featuring the artwork of the beloved writer, painter, illustrator, and teacher. The limited edition posters will be available for purchase during the festival in The Museum Store and online.
