Luanne Redeye, Under the Same Sky

Langley H. Kenzie Award Winner

Look closely at Luanne Redeye's paintings, and you'll be rewarded with subtle patterns, symbols, and hidden portraits applied to the canvas as photo transfers that reveal themselves with each new glance. In certain works, it's what's missing that holds the key: objects traced in pastel or replaced by vibrant fields of color, reflecting the artist's ongoing exploration of memory, identity, and cultural continuity.

As arresting as her paintings are, it was Redeye's hand-beaded photographic works, juried into the 2025 Sylvia L. Rosen Craft Art Biennial, that first caught our curators' attention. Her piece Grandmother's Granddaughter I (pictured above) was selected for the Sylvia L. Rosen Endowment Purchase Award, joining the museum's permanent collection. The biennial exhibition also brought Redeye the Langley H. Kenzie Award, which recognizes an outstanding artist with a solo exhibition the following year, now taking shape as Under the Same Sky. The exhibition brings together multiple series of work spanning more than a decade, showing how identity and familial knowledge are continually shaped, remembered, and carried forward across generations. Elliot Scozzaro Quartet

The Elliot Scozzaro Quartet will play a variety of original compositions, Great American Songbook standards, and arrangements of Bebop, Hard Bop, and Post-Bop tunes by artists such as Joe Henderson, Cedar Walton, and Horace Silver.

Elliot Scozzaro is a saxophonist, composer, arranger, and educator from Buffalo, NY. He earned a Bachelor of Music at Capital University in Columbus, OH, where he studied with Dr. Michael Cox, and a Master of Music in Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas (UNT), where he was mentored by Brad Leali. While at UNT, Elliot played lead alto saxophone in the seven-time Grammy-nominated One O’ Clock Lab Band.

Elliot maintains a busy freelance schedule as a leader and a sideman. He has extensively toured throughout the United States, Canada, and Japan with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Al Stewart and the Empty Pockets, and Louis Prima Jr and the Witnesses. Elliot has also played at venues both in the Western New York area and throughout the Northeast and Midwest with such artists as the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Father John Misty, Bright Eyes, and Debby Boone.

An active composer, Elliot has written compositions and arrangements for both small and large ensembles. In 2019, he was commissioned to write an arrangement of Brad Leali’s “Carla Ann” for a performance with the U.S. Navy Commodores at the 2020 International Saxophone Symposium in Washington D.C. In 2022, he was awarded a Statewide Community Regrant by Arts Services Inc. and the New York State Council on the Arts for the premiere of his project “Sounds of Buffalo: A Series of Compositions and Arrangements for Tentet.” He recently debuted an arrangement of “Just Friends” with the Glenn Miller Orchestra while on tour in Summer 2025.

Elliot is currently on faculty at Buffalo State University and the State University of New York (SUNY) at Fredonia. Elliot also serves as the Program Coordinator for the Buffalo Jazz Collective, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and advancing the rich jazz heritage of Western New York.
