Stephen Quiller will present his mentors and masters who he has been influenced and inspired by including Charles E. Burchfield. Quiller’s approach to color and watermedia will be discussed along with his 12 color spectral palette and the Quiller Color Wheel. The watermedia presentation will emphasize watercolor, gouache, acrylic and casein, and their unique visual qualities, handling characteristics, and how these media can be combined in a painting.
Stephen Quiller’s plein air paintings created in various parts of the world including Scotland, Italy, France, Ireland, Canada, and Sardinia will be included in the evenings lecture. Quiller will show a photograph of the actual site he painted as well as the finished painting and elaborate on how the landscape was interpreted. Following the presentation, Stephen Quiller will be signing his book and DVD’s.
About Stephen Quiller
Stephen Quiller is an internationally known painter who has written several books on watermedia and color and has produced artist instructional videos. Quiller lives with his wife in Creede, Colorado where his gallery is located. Stephen Quiller is a Dolphin Fellow and signature member of the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, National Society for Painters in Acrylic and Casein, Rocky Mountain National Watermedia, and Watercolor West.
Quiller has received the numerous awards and honors from the American Watercolor Society including the 2014 Gold Medal of Honor as well as major awards from the National Watercolor Society. In 2014 he was invited along with two other American painters to the First Zhong Shan International Master Watercolor Invitational Exhibition in China. Stephen Quiller’s paintings were produced on magazine covers along with articles in many leading publications. Quiller has served as a juror for numerous regional and international water media exhibitions and conducts national and international seminars.
