Wendy Caldwell Maloney is a watercolorist and mixed media artist who works out of her home studio in Snyder, NY. Her imagery is largely nature-based, with an ever-increasing focus on abstract and conceptual work.
After receiving a BFA in Art and Design from Alfred University with concentrations in drawing, photography, and printmaking, she returned to Buffalo to pursue a career in the pre-press industry. Initially as a typographer, and then as sole proprietor of Current Design, she served the Western New York business community as a graphic designer and award-winning illustrator for two decades. In 2002 she returned to the fine arts to study transparent watercolor with renowned Buffalo artist Margaret M. Martin.
Her work is included in public and private collections in the United States, Canada, Italy, and Mexico. Regionally, she is represented in the corporate collections of Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Oishei Children’s Hospital, Hospice Buffalo, and the ROME Recovery and Rehabilitation Center. She has exhibited at The Albright-Knox Art Gallery, The Kenan Center, the Buffalo Decorator’s Show House, Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center, Western New York Artists Group Gallery, Benjamin Art Gallery, Sisti Gallery North, Buffalo Big Print Gallery, The Carnegie Art Center, and the Birge Mansion. Wendy has also had solo exhibits at Daemen University, Fox Run’s Gyda Higgins Gallery, Pausa Art House, The Saturn Club, Temple Beth Am, The Jewish Community Center, The Park School of Buffalo, and Betty’s Restaurant, with additional solo exhibits planned at Meibohm Fine Arts, and the Phoenix Restaurant in the summer of 2025.
Wendy is an exhibiting member of the Buffalo Society of Artists, a signature member of the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society, has taught watercolor workshops at the Burchfield Penney Art Center, and is a frequent contributor to The Buffalo History Museum’s annual Paint The Town event.
