Rich Tomasello

"The mixed media art that I create is greatly influenced by the world around me. For several years my art has specifically addressed the loss of innocence.

"Memories from my childhood, current events, the toy industry, advertising for children specific to gender, and social justice are topics that appear in my work.

"Whether it’s a stereotypical advertisement for a girl, which I parody in "Girl's Gas Mask" or breathing tubes and gas masks addressing police violence and black lives in America, my work aims to shine a light on injustice."

Tomasello is from Buffalo New York. He earned a BFA in Illustration from the University at Buffalo and a MA in Art Education from Buffalo State College. He is an Exhibiting Member of the Buffalo Society of Artists and is a member of the Emerging Leaders in the Arts Buffalo (ELAB). Tomasello’s work has been featured on The Huffington Post and been shown in many group and solo exhibitions including:  the Erie Art Museum, the Memorial Art Gallery, the Affordable Art Fair and Uncle Sam’s in NYC, Daemen College, Canisius College, the University at Buffalo, 464 Gallery, and most recently Truth to Power in Philadelphia and Politicon in Pasadena, California.
