Born in Buffalo in 1977, Rachel Ostrow, who is now based in Crown Heights, New York, is not represented in the BPAC collection. For this series of works, she was said to have “enlisted her body and gestures in order to render abstract, multi-dimensional forms on panel.” Her newest work, exhibited in Rachel Ostrow: Once More with Feeling at Planthouse, a contemporary gallery and project space on West 28th Street in New York, was reviewed by Darren Jones in the March 2019 issue of Artforum. Ostrow has had solo shows at the Kenan Center, Lockport, NY (2016); John Davis Gallery, Hudson, NY (2015); and Todojunto Gallery, Barcelona, Spain (2009). Her group shows include those at Gowanus Studio Space, Rhombus Space, Gridspace, Saffron, Liloveve Gallery, Rabbithole Studio, Heliopolis, and others in Brooklyn; SPRING/BREAK Art Show, Deborah Berke Partners (“the Design Architect for the transformation of the landmarked Richardson Olmsted Campus in Buffalo into a new boutique hotel, conference center and event center, and Buffalo Architecture Center), the International Print Center New York, Fisher Gallery at Horace Mann, 92Y Tribeca, and 80WSE Gallery, all in New York; and Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center, Buffalo, NY.
