Paula Sćiuk was born in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and grew up in Western New York. She is the fifth generation of her family to grow, live, and work in the region, and she feels a deep connection to its waterways and landscapes.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in design from the State University College at Buffalo, where she began refining her visual and conceptual vocabulary. Her large-scale digital photographic images have been shown in one-person, curated, and group exhibitions around the world since 2007 and are included in private collections in the U.S. and Europe. In an artist’s statement she writes:
“My work focuses on the surface tension within reflective surfaces exploring diverse and abstract forms. The imagery is fluid, caught in the instant between space and time speaking to patterns and textures, earthly and alien, ancient and monolithic, contemporary and poetic.” [1]
