Nicholas Conrad Miller (b. 1983) is an artist living in Buffalo, NY. He received his BFA from Slippery Rock University/ Academy of Fine Arts and Design Bratislava, Slovakia and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. After receiving his BFA, he moved to Philadelphia and was an intern and then lead muralist for the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. During graduate school, he was voted to be the graduate representative to the Board of Trustees, organized 2 large-scale exhibitions (Aurora Borealis and The First Annual First Show) which included students, staff and alumni of SFAI, and established SFAI’s first and now ongoing Graduate Open Studios. After graduate school, he moved to Austin, Texas from 2010-2015 where he worked for various art institutions such as The Blanton Museum of Art, The Contemporary Austin and The Visual Art Center at the University of Texas. He was an artist mentor for the highly acclaimed Advanced Young Artist Program and a faculty member of the Art School, both at The Contemporary Austin. As a faculty member, he taught 2 collaborative mural classes, both resulting in large public murals in the city. His personal mural work is showcased in Texas at Cisco’s Restaurant, Co-Lab Projects, Hilliard & Shadowen Law Firm and the McHale Ranch. Since March 2015, Miller has been living in Buffalo, expanding his studio practice with a large body of work as well as painting several murals. These murals include The Worker Mural, The Wash Project Mural, Advantageous Geometry #1, Advantageous Geometry #2, and Advantageous Geometry #3 and a forthcoming mural on the Tri-Main Campus. Working with the University Heights Neighborhood Association, Miller received a DEC Grant through ASI to continue the work of Bailey Fights Blight, with community workshops and a collaboratively-designed mural. The mural, Advantageous Geometry #1, received 2nd Place People’s Choice Award at the echo Art Fair in May 2016. Most recently, Miller has started Buffalo Art Services with Christopher Kameck, specializing in art installation, packing and crating and custom fabrication of art surfaces for artists.
