Melanie Aceto is a modern dancer, choreographer, and educator. She earned her Master of Fine Arts degree in dance from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and is an Associate Professor at the University at Buffalo teaching all levels of modern technique, improvisation, and choreography. Her work has been performed internationally and at festivals and venues throughout the United States. [1]
Aceto’s creative interests are in interdisciplinary solo and large group works. Her group work Swarm…Churn (music by Marc Mellits) is the subject of the documentary Time to Dance by filmmaker Yuichiro Yamada: http://vimeo.com/10055182. Subsequent projects include Cloud, a 2012 work for six dancers and 3,000 square feet of plastic, made in collaboration with architect/designer Michael Rogers.
