Mary Begley is a painter born in Buffalo, New York. She was raised in Saratoga, New York, but returned to her birthplace to acquire her BFA from Buffalo State College and her MFA from SUNY Buffalo. Her work has appeared in Buffalo at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the Burchfield Penney Art Center, Big Orbit, Art Dialogue, and Hallwalls Gallery. She has exhibited across New York State at such galleries as Deep Space Gallery in New York City, the Vanderbilt Museum at Centerport, New York and Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn, NY.
Begley is a 1998 NYFA Fellow in the painting discipline. She was more recently awarded an individual artist grant from the Saltonstall Foundation in 2007. She exhibited at the Burchfield Penny in The Artist’s Among us shows as well as TOYS: The Artist At Play.
She continues to live and work in Buffalo. In addition to her career as a painter she is the Label Manager at Ani DiFranco’s Righteous Babe Records, a place where art and commerce can coexist.
