Jean Hill Collins was a long-time member of Albright-Knox Art Gallery and a local artist who exhibited widely in a variety of media including watercolor, silkscreen, and decoupage.
Born in Buffalo, the former Jean Hill grew up in East Aurora and attended the Park School of Buffalo. She graduated from Miss Porter's School in Farmington, Connecticut. In the 1940s, she trained at the Art Students League in New York City, where her great uncle, George Bridgman, a renowned painter, writer, and teacher, had taught anatomy and figure drawing for 45 years.
Mrs. Collins' art was showcased in many Buffalo venues, including Just Pasta Restaurant, Garret Club, Allen Street Hardware Cafe, and International House Auction at the Saturn Club. She taught art at the Centennial Art Center of Hamburg and Trinity Episcopal Church of Buffalo, where her artworks were also exhibited.
