Carl Lothar Bredemeier was an artist and owned the Carl Bredemeier Gallery at 327 Franklin Street, and later at 249 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo, NY. According to his obituary, he opened his gallery after artists saw the frames he made for his own paintings and prints. Margaret Evans Price is among the artists he exhibited.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Bredemeier came to Buffalo as a child and graduated from Lafayette High School. He later attended Amherst Agriculture College and the Art Students League in New York City. After serving as an ensign in the U.S. Navy, he worked as a free-lance advertising designer until 1923, when he became advertising manager for Victor & Co. He left that job around 1935 to open his gallery.
Bredemeier was active in the arts community, being member of the Buffalo Society of Artists and a charter member of the Patteran Society in 1933. He was also an organizer of the East Aurora branch of the Union for Democratic Action, member of the Buffalo Rotary Club, the Greater Buffalo Advertising Club.
