Bronson Case Rumsey, II, known to family and friends as Bert, was a wood carver and friend of Buffalo Bill Cody. He was the son of the banking executive Bronson Case Rumsey, I (1823-1902), who was a founder of the Manufacturers & Traders Trust Company, and involved in leather, real estate and railroad businesses, as well as being a leader in founding the Buffalo Park system. He married Eveline Hall in 1848 and they had four children: Laurence Dana, Mary Lovering, Bronson, and Evelyn, who later became known as the artist Evelyn Rumsey Cary.
