Transmutation- A response to Virocode”

My body yearns
for someone
to lift it by its ears.
Shake out this tired soul’s bones,
and drop them beneath our home,
so I can be free.
Right now, I can’t leave this floor.
All of me is here—
inside of her,
as she’s watching me
inch toward the door.
She’s telling me to be still—
afraid we’ll get caught.
This is the perfect time to die
alone.
I tell her,
we want to call for help.
She reminds me, he took our phone.
We both resign.
Won’t be so bad when it finally comes.
There’ll be peace; it’s so quiet outside.
