"The bronze cast was created using clay. My daughter Isabella was the inspiration for the face of the model. I used a favorite painting of Fra Filippo Lippi "Madonna and Child with Angels," for the headdress and top of the dress. Another daughter, Victoria posed for the anatomy of the angel and a drapery study by Leonarda DaVinci was used to create the bottom drapery."(McCumber)
