May 13—Friday—A.M. mowing part of the lawn.—P.M. errands to “cityline” –May 14 (Saturday)A shower in the night. It is fresher. The “strange plants” I got at Rock City came out today & proved to be “Clintonia”— a delicate yellow green flower with lemon yellow stamens (Similar color to “Twisted Stalk”—A.M. to Buffalo—to AAA to get road directions for our trip to Scott Field Monday— — other errands.P.M. cleaning car & writing a few letters,May 16—(Mon.) –May 20 (Friday).Trip to Scott Air Force Base for Art’s graduation.May 16—Up at 4:00—Started at six— cool, sky overcast—A pleasant, if strenuous trip—Lunch on Route 82 (209.6 mi.) at 11:30—A short distance beyond—blue & white (tall spikes) of some sort of star-shaped lilies. Dig two plants—On route 140, (398.5) stopped for drink at road—side park. On starting up, engine stalled—gas station man pushed me across the road (heavy traffic, made me nervous) fixed it for 50¢.)
