April 14 (Thursday)Card & three ties from Art.A bright sunny day. Working on Snow fence, writing letters & studying pictures, principally the “Good Friday Mood”—Apr.15 Friday—Evening—Cliff Luders [sic] & Holdermiller [sic]—persuaded us to delay action in our church resignation |April 16 (Saturday)Cold—freezing—snowing all day—In studio—working on “Good Friday Mood” with great gusto and assurance. A bitter mood. (I think I shall give it a non-committal title such as “April Mood”—). At the end of the day asked B out to see it. She liked it—thought it was almost frighteningApr. 17—(Easter)Cold and bright—the ground frozen hard.B & I to early service at E. Aurora at (8:45) at times driving down it was easy to imagine we were back in February. Only where elm & maple bloom showed was clear that it was spring.M & N to the 11:00 service at E.A. while we kept Peggy. Then back here for dinner. Roast ham etc. P.M. Cards.Evening—B & I to Tech to see “Force of Evil” (John Garfield) & “Caught” (James Mason). We were not in a mood for such tense grim pictures & came away dissatisfied—
