April 8—(Friday)All day on the “Telegraph Music”—altho I had plenty of difficult moments, nevertheless I improvised with great gusto.; ; ; ; ___________Evening, B & I to E. Aurora High School to See the Operator (based on Indian Themes) given by the 5th & 6th grades—(One boy alone, the “Medicine Man”, was able to visualize and express his part)—a pleasant episode, put on with great skill & ambition as to costumes & scenery). Met a few people afterwards, including the parents of John Schroll, the Railroad “artist”—Took my pictures home.April 9—My birthday dinner tonight—H & M down. B gave me a nice billfold, and M & H a “maize” sport shirt. Our dinner—pork-chops baked with sweet potatoes, and rhubarb & apple pie. Etc.Cards.April 10—M—H & I to Faith Church. Palm Sunday. Hank received into the church.Apr. 12 (Tuesday)To the “Great Woods”—altho I had tried to break away from it. I went in to get rotten wood, & then on the return saw a theme I had to try out.
