Feb. 15—(Tues.).Much warmer in the night—an exciting day, {*snow drops in yard.} a strong wind driving cool gray layer clouds north—eastwards, with a ban of yellow sunlit sky at the horizon in the south. I pulled away some leaves in the hepatica garden & discovered some snow—drops in bud. I feel like kneeling right down in the wet soggy earth and thanking god for the seasons. The return of Spring!Advertising folder in the mail presenting a new picture protector—eonite [sic], which probably is liquid Lucite. It seems worth trying and may be the solution to my big picture problem.Car to Nenner’s. Feb 16 to Feb. 23—In bed with cold and in head which later settled in my back.Called F.R. 5:300 Wed (16th) to ask him to cancel hotel reservations & let Wattz know I could not come. He told me “Day in Midwinter” sold to University of Michigan for $1000.Letter Saturday from Mrs. M asking for bill for “Song of Cicada”—Got up briefly Sunday for dinner—then more & more each day.Mild spring—like weather—
