Her daughter would prefer the “Song of the Cicada” but she I think felt its price a little beyond her. She is to let me know. ; Left, & found poor B—huddled up under blankets & I felt like a heel.; Evening—rummy—; ; ; ; ; Jan. 27 (Thurs.); In studio mounting some enlargements of “Willows in Winter”—“The Parade” & “December Light.”—; Letter from M. A. She has an offer of a job near Chicago and does not know whether to go or not. ; ; ; ; ; Jan. 28 (Friday); Warmer in the night—Snow & ice of yesterday almost all gone. A riotous windy day.; A.M. in studio, studying “Winter” idea portfolios and floods of ideas begin to pour in on me. After almost two months of artistic inactivity it seems wonderful to me. Got out the “Equinocture [sic] Night Storm” “Song of the Telegraph” and “Blue—birds” & & find them good to look at. Played the Dvorak “Dumky Trio—its incredible mystery & beauty as strong for me as in the first hearing.
