Dec. 15—(Wed.) ; Working on a water color of Albarelli’s Maple & Miller’s house, made in the gall of ’46.; Tues. Night—; ; Take Pal out to end of lot. A beautiful mysterious night—the moon full, hazy, with a weather ring, high overhead. All at once a harsh scream above a huge bird, probably an owl, circling low, evidently disturbed by & furious at our presence—what a load of venom & rage he put into that scream. Which he uttered a couple times more, before finally flying off to the east.; A freezing rain—by the afternoon the effects beautiful; ; ; ; ; Dec. 23 (Thurs.).; Art came in at 1:00 A.M. (He & Ed had had a “lift” to Cleveland, & called us from there about 5:30 P.M. yesterday. B & I to meet him—; Pal in a frenzy. A.M. letter from Sally—coming Friday P.M.A.M. to Buffalo Shopping got presents for B & I.; Evening—B & I to children’s service—; ; ; ; ; Dec. 24—; Cold—partially cloudy—
