The son (a bachelor) helps his mother with the house work.; ; ; ; ; Wed. Nov. 3—Stayed awake most of the night listening to the election returns. Had the expected happened (Dewey was the favorite of all pollsters, bettors & even Truman’s party) I probably would have turned over & gone to sleep, but as soon as it became evident that Truman was taking the lead, it became very exciting. At 5:30 the issue was not certain broadcasting ceased & I slept until 8:00.—It was not until 11:15 that Dewey conceded the election to Truman.B & I going over some of the early water-colors. A.M. to Loblaw’s— —Late P.M. Vullo & Blain in. we chuckled over the election. To studio. Blain’s enthusiasm for my imaginative things always restores my confidence. Invited them to bring Rowe out Tuesday night.; ; ; ; ; Thurs. Nov. 4—Working on some of the early water-colors. Mounting etc. Later P.M. raking leaved to cover wild flower gardens.Evening played Sibelius 5th & Pohjola’s Daughter.Sat. Nov. 6—Letters to Eve & Cathie— Raining— Evening—B & I to Hippodrome to see “Johnny Belinda (Lew Ayers & ?) a fine picture —
