A report by Eliot of a trip he & his wife took this summer (in their “new Studebaker” gift of Mr. Knox) out west, visiting schools etc. A report by Br Rithie of his summer in Europe and conditions there. Voted on several matters the purport of which I do not recall.; ; ; ; Tuesday Oct. 26—Friday Oct 27—“Recovering” from the trip. Writing an account of it. Letters to the youngsters all around.Thurs. Wed. Even. Birthday supper for B—(prepared by herself). Chicken, about as delicious as we ever had—fresh strawberry pie & ice-cream.Friday Eve. B & I to Buffalo to see “Red River;” (John Wayne—Montgomery Clift) an excellent movie, beautifully photographed.; ; ; ; ; Sunday Oct. 31 – P.M. B & I to Art Institute to see Rave’s show. Not open however.Monday Oct Nov.1 – ; A.M. Miss Kimbal & Mrs. Jackson out to select pictures for an exhibition at the Garnet Club. Settled on “Song of the Cicada—1948” and The Blue Bottle picture—also I suggested showing a few of the 1916 water-colors.; Evening B & I to “Vogue” to see Laurence Olivier’s “Henry V”—a beautiful movie, on all accounts—the color controlled and creative—the landscapes all
