made arrangements for us to visit the gallery at 2:00 P.M.Lunch with Cathie and her friend Bob Harr at Ray & Roy’s on Main St. Back to the Hotel & rested awhile – then to Nelson Gallery.Met by Mr. Taggart who showed us over the whole gallery, explaining the exhibits as he went. A fine collection of Chinese paintings, especially the scroll type which fascinated me. –It was a pleasure seeing my “Edge of Town” again – but the frame is bad – two heavy & dull. {In the evening called on the Leukings.}Invited to attend a tea given in honor of the Japanese Toma Tas [sic] – curator of oriental art at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. A small party.Back to Hotel – then to Leonard’s to get C – had dinner at ? – then for a drive around the city – to war memorial and the Plaza – Back to the hotel and talked until 1:00. Called Erie up. Drove C home & then to hotel.[Drove 41 miles in K.C. reset speedometer at 0]; ; ; ; ; Friday Oct. 15.Breakfast at Hotel. Ice again – Leave K.C. at 9:30.11.5 miles Stop for devotions 26 “– Lost route 50 – took route 7 to Olathe where we got 50 again. 50 S at Ottawa then 75}83 mi – relaxation – ate apples. Discovered we had lost a hubcap.? mi. Burlington – 1:00 ate lunch “smashed potatoes” B – drove awhile –
