of wagging & whining, put his paws on Art’s chest & looked searchingly into his face. We talked for an hour and then went back to bed. Day spent mostly on visiting. Evening Art dressed up in his best uniform to go in to pick up Cathie. He looked very handsome & physically fit. Sept. 5 – (Sun)Rev. Drevoes – ; ; ; ; ; (Letter Eve.)Sept 6 – 7 Working on frames – cutting boards for “Gateway to Sept.” “Farmhouse & Tree Pines” & “Summer Dream”Hot dry weather – made notes for Drought Sun picture. Sept. 8 (Wed.) – The dog howling at 6:00 A.M. What I thought that was! P.M. all of us to see Sally. She was hanging out clothes her face looked so white & she looked tired. In the bedroom with B, she cried a little & said she had had to go to Dr. for medicine for her nerves. She & C. & Art went in bathing while we watched the youngsters, we made plans for her to come down next week –Sept. 9 – (Thurs.)Mounting the “Gateway to September” (26 X 36 to 42 X 56) Heavy rains. M in bed with touch of grippe. Hank in Ohio to pick up & drive back a new bus for Cottrell’s – did not get back until 11:00 P.M. Sept. 10 (Friday)Mounting – Farmhouse & Tree Pines – (23 X 33 to 34 X 48) and “Summer Dawn” – (18 X 22 to 40 X 56). P.M. Thought I would get to work on “Gateway to September” but was not ready. Mid P.M. – Rev Neeb in for a chat & showed him a few pictures. –Fresh September weather.
