He seemed funny in doing the most ordinary things, such as eating a sandwich. Aug 29 (Sunday).Rev. Neeb being away, the services were conducted by the Salem Church assistant pastor. I liked his manner of delivery – quiet earnest, as though he were carrying on a conversation with one person, & that someone he liked. No relief from heat! – Letter to Evie.Evening – Mart & Hank leave baby with us, & went to the Strand Theater. They returned early, as it was so hot there, and so many pop–corn eaters. Telephone call from Vic – he & his family are coming Wednesday for a two day visit. Aug. 30 – Monday – My eye is much better.
