two letters from M.A.—she had been to Oklahoma.; Painting inside mats in Studio—; Evening—Mart & Hank took B & I to Seneca to see “Great Expectations”—It was just as fine as on the first viewing. With it was a good “mystery” play, called “The Web”—; ; ; ; ; ; Sept. 14—(Sun.); At 4:00 A.M. the telephone rang (Art had been to a party at Hoffman’s, then gone to a barn dance at a place near the S.W. Blvd. & Abbot Rd. and had gotten home at 2:30). It was Bob H asking for Art. When I told him Art was in bed asleep, he then told me his trouble. Their car was stalled on the S.W. Blvd. (he & Dan F & his girls) and had wanted Art to pick them up.). When B. called to Art from his doorway and got no response, I decided he would be too sleepy to drive, and went myself. They had been there a couple hours they said.; It was rather nice being out at that time of night (altho there were more cars than I had anticipated)—Orion was rising in the East, recalling to me the all night ride from Vermont with J.J.L. & S. back in 1923). And in the North the Aurora Borealis was putting on a fine display.; ; ; ; ; ____________; B—A & I to church. Mart could not go because his lip was swelled from a mosquito bite. M & H to dinner. Chicken. P.M. the usual letters to the girls (Sally, Evie & Cathie).
