for opening my show Oct. 15—was that a large Society Picasso Show was opening about Oct 20, and wanted to get in before them. (otherwise we would receive no attention at all, which is true {B & I in to sign wills-lunch at Waldorf—Bank etc—}. Evening B. M & I to Bailey to see “Possessed”—a tense picture, well done.; ; ; ; ; ; Sept. 10 194 (Wed.); Tried to get to work on “Genesee St. Bldg” Picture. I could not make it go, and gave it up. Sanded some of the frames. In the evening Hank helped & we finished them all.; ; ; ; ; ; Sept. 11 (Thurs.)—; Worked all day on the “G.S.B.” Picture—at the end B said it did not come up to my “standard” for such pictures—and I could see she was right. The interest is too general—I felt discouraged.; Evening—to Maxine to see “Cheyenne”—a run of the mill Western, with more than the usual number of clichés thrown in. We went chiefly to get away from the weather, which has grown monotonously unbearable.; ; ; ; ; ; Sept. 12—(Friday)—; P.M. mixed the grass color & painted all the outside frames, two coats—it was affine drying day, I worked without pause from start to finish.; ; ; ; ; ; Sept. 13 (Sat.); Hot & moist again. Worse than yesterday—
