Sept. 8. (Mon.); Spurred on by the need of getting my pictures to N.Y. as soon as possible, I spent the whole day in mixing dry color for frames mats & antique—also making a cream emulsion for the antique. I learned that titanium white makes the dry color look darker than other whites, but when mixed & painted on, dries lighter. As I was matching up to samples made with white Substitute white, it was rather difficult. This held true for the mat & antique color too.; Evening Hank down and helped sand the mats—we finished them all, and B rewarded him with a piece of her apple pie.; ; ; ; _________________________; Letters from M.A. & C.—C is going to move, to a private home suggested by Rev. Weinhold.; M.A. said an older, more experienced case-worker had appeared on the scene and was making her feel raw and inexperienced, which is what she is of course, but she must have an opportunity to learn. The new worker she said behaved in being completely impersonal & hard, did not believe M.A. should play with or associate with the orphans.
