Late Evening—F.R. calls from Magnolia—said there was some money for me, John was supposed to have sent him a check for signing and had forgotten to enclose it hence there would be a slight delay, in its getting to me, and he wanted to put my mind at ease. He wants to open my show about Oct. 15—also said he was arranging a small show in Dayton Ohio, with a view to a purchase.; ; ; ; ; Sept 7, (Sun.)—; The same uncomfortable weather—; After church Mr. Boldt told me he & Mrs. B. were celebrating their 50th anniversary Sept 23.; P.M. letters to M.A. & C.; Late P.M. Mart & Hank down—said they had been to Biehler’s Restaurant (in Hamburg) where M. has a picture of an exhibition hung in the dining room.—They said they got such good refreshments there—Later we decided to drive down ourselves and see what it was like—It was pleasant to drive along and get a breeze in the car window.; At Biehler’s we had chicken sandwiches, coffee and a sundae called “Pineapple Temptation”—all very good.; We came home on McKinley Pkwy. At its junction with the first Hamburg Road, in a wooded hollow we heard Katydids and stopped to listen—never have we heard so many at one time—It was almost deafening the racket they made.—Art back from Toronto at late P.M. Said the fair was dead on Sunday, but that they had had a good time.
