July 12—(Saturday)—; Up late, and after much indecision, out sketching—Out Cole Rd, to Boston Colden Rd, east on it then right on July 12 (cont.)South Hill Rd.—for several miles then right on Murray Rd. T.H.); Eat lunch under a maple.—cold wind, but hot sun with lazy atmosphere & clouds. The warbler—“Weech-a-teety–weech-a-teety–weech-a-teety-weet”; Back on road westward for more open country—set up easel in hayfield and paint clouds & sky enclosed by field & rays on each side—A walk thru fields & woods afterwards— Spread blanket and eat lunch facing west—the sun a dimmed glow just above vast bank of blue gray cloud—a cool mist wind. At this particularly season, and at this hour (5:00 sun time) it seems as if the world was standing still—the tall sun in the west, standing so high, so powerful, does not seem to move downwards at all—as if this hour would go on forever.Home by way of Route 219.; ; ; ; ; July 13—(Sun.)— A.M.—B—M.A. Mart & I to church— Evening—B & I in to pick up Cathie— ; ; ; ; ; July 14—(Mon)Mounting paper in studio.
