port (with the aim of getting a commercial pilot license) said last night he would fly over our yard this morning. We had forgotten it until we heard the plane flying low—we ran out & waved to him.June 29 (Sun.)P.M. — B & A — MA — Hank M & I for roadside picnic—Road over the Hill west of the Boston-Springville Rd.—A clear hot day, but pleasant under the shade of some maples.; The meadows rank with growing timothy all all [sic] sorts of field flowers – pink & alsike clover, self heal, Venus’ looking glass, buttercups etc.Home early.—Evening—all of us but A to Seneca to see “The Two Mrs. Carrolls”—June 30—July 1Working in yard—fixing an annual flower garden west of shed (a box-like formation using old 2 x 4’5—moving dirt from behind shed, with A’s help. Building a box for the ash pile back of the shed.)July 1—Evening—Bob Blair & Mrs. Blair stop by for a moment—Bob to see when the Institute group could come out. We agreed on this evening but could not get enough on short notice.July 3—Evening—the Institute group out—a good bunch—I enjoyed them, and took pleasure in showing them my pictures, to which they responded with sympathy & enthusiasm.Coffee and refreshments in the house afterwards. C home early Mart & Hank down, (M. had baked a cake for the occasion).
