Evening—B & I to Pine Ridge Church to hear their Schlicker Organ—We were the last ones to arrive—Elsie M. already playing. It was plain at once that this was a much finer organ than the Wurlitzer we heard Sunday—in fact there could be no comparison. We learned that Tross & Meides were strongly in favor of the Wurlitzer—It was suggested that all go at once to our own church & hear the Wurlitzer again. Meides asked us to go for our moral support.; The Wurlitzer sounded worse than on Sunday—A general discussion, & it was decided to let the matter rest, inasmuch as the Schlicker was already contracted for, a down payment made & the organ under construction.; Stepans invited a number of us to their home for coffee, (Holdenmiller, Neebs, Lindin & ourselves). A very pleasant evening.; Home at 1:00. M.A. G. & A. had just arrived home at 12:30.; B—M.A. & I talk until 3:00 about our various problems (Art’s health – C’s going to Kansas City etc.)June 27—(Friday).Up late, but determined to go out painting nevertheless. To the country east of Strykersville. A very warm quiet humid day, which was what I wanted for the particular mood I wanted to express. (the full moon of the summer solstice).I wanted to visit the little vale that I missed last Saturday & accordingly took the first dirt road leading east of Strykersville.
