May 13 Tues. The addition to the Lav. & Old Lace did not adhere properly at the seam so I was forced to rip it off and start all over again. May 14 (Wed.) All day on the Gen. St. Picture—mostly on the large building.— May 15— Evening B & I for drive in country—found a woods on a side road leading east from Route 62 (just south of the junction of 62 & B.W. Blvd.) A dense musky woods, cut in half by a single line railroad—Full of trilliums, dog-tooth “violets” or trout lily, and some wild ginger & large flowered bell-wort. There must have been at least six wood-thrushes all singing at once—the tame voice of the deep moist woods in May. The sun on the horizon shining thru the trees like a bon-fire. May 16 Evening B & I to see “Farmer’s Daughter (Joseph Cotton, Loretta Young) Very good. May 17— Puttering. A wood thrush has come to our yard. Very unusual. May 18— Late P.M. B & I to see “The Egg and I”—an amusing
