Mar. 24—(Monday) The “first” *robin, in the basswood tree by the studio— Mar. 25—27 Blizzard and very cold as in mid-January (down to 15°)—Mar. 28—The semi-opaque icicle on a broken sugar maple branch—deep blue skies—tang in the air. Mar. 29—(Sat.) M.A. and her friend Ellen Krentz home for Easter Vacation. Mar. 31—First Songsparrow. Apr. 1 (Tues.) *Snow drops in bud back of the garage—came up thru the snow. Working on frames all week for four pictures— Apr. 3—(Thurs.) Sally out with baby (she & Red to take Communion at Emmanuel Church in evening). Early A.M. pictures to packers. Apr. 2 { Working on frames— *A honey bee sunning itself on a frame. What a dainty creature, and how beautiful the first winged insect! } To come out doors, with the memory of the softness of the baby’s cheek and smile still fresh in my mind, and find a tiny worm-like creature struggling along a snow-bank. Robins. Evening drive Sally & Red to E. Aurora then B & I to the hill eastwards. Park and look out over the moonlit valley, Patches of snow gleaming in the mood-light – the glint of moonlight on limbs of wild cherry trees. Cold.* Yellow crocus out—Friday April 4—
