Wed—Cont.—we discussed the gallery art not much new either as to details, or solution. P.M. in Gallery—going over pictures, and discussing the gallery troubles with F. I hinted to him that some of the fellows were threatening to quit—an idea that seemed new to him. At F. to meek Mart—to Hotel, & after she is “freshened up” & settled in her room, we walk down Fifth to the same restaurant Geo & I ate at, at noon. Breast of Capon & very delicious. Then to see Sonia Heines’ [sic] “Ice-time” Thurs. Breakfast at auto mat—Mart & I doing galleries and museums all day—AM—Metropolitan—I see Brenghel’s the Harvesters as something totally new—each time greater—Lunch at a little restaurant on Madison, then for short walk in Central Park, & to Frick museum. Here the two Turners struck me in an entirely new way (was it my eye had been so full of abstract out on the Guggenheim jury?)—The Bellini also seemed so much greater. Leave Mart explore some galleries on her own—then we meet at gallery— M & I to Mrs. F for dinner. See the ancient W.C. show first, my “Sphynx [sic] & Milky Way” is well hung & looks good.
