heartily approved of my stand last spring. She liked our little village, our situation and our home. Saturday—(Feb. 22). The beginning of the blizzard. Did a sketch from memory of the sun bursting thru a blizzard. A large one, (31 x 45) on a panel I had made of two sheets of heavy unbleached arnold. Beautiful paper, I could do anything I wished with it—there were no technical difficulties. I let myself go in the sketch, improvising freely. Mar 2— Telephone call this evening from George Olds—the agitation for changes in the gallery afoot again. He wanted to know when I was coming down & how I felt etc.— that he would probably have some meetings with some of the men next week. Snow started again to day [sic]. Mar. 3— Blizzard—soon all rural & suburban traffic at a standstill. A.M. Call Guggenheim to find out date of jury meeting (Moe out of town on vacation). Mrs. Leighton said the date was for Mar. 17 & 18 —
