Nov. 4—Sally home unexpectedly early this morning. AM sunshine is nothing compared to our happiness in having her home again.
Her visit was all too short (she left on Tuesday night)—
Nov. 6—Sketch of frozen scarlet sage along the garage.
Nov. 8—First work on the Nuthatch picture—
Nov. 11—Second day on “ “—put in a falling leaf.
Nov. 13 (Monday)—A heavy frost—very beautiful—The sun comes up powerful and warm—Under the willow tree, leaves falling idly—Melted frost on maple tree, as the drops hang ready to fall, they flash on and off like stars. Chickweed, each tiny leaf rimmed with frost.
PM—To Chestnut Ridge Park for studies. A beautiful day. The air incredibly still, the sunlight clear and brilliant. (To paint almost 2 miles south of Park)—studies of oak leaves & branches. The brilliant & clear sunbow in the N.E.

Studying the Nuthatch picture—I have degenerated too much into
