To bank – & market & Heil Brass (for art’s pedal) – also to see “Yankee Doodle Dandy” again – which I enjoy even more than first time.
Torrents of rain as I drive home.

Fussing futilely in studio all day – and thus miss a fine windy march day –

My mind is a blank, and my sure is asleep in the midst of some of my favorite seasons, I am inactive, useless.
Mar. 19 –
Ice-storm from the east – Crackle of poplar branches swayed by the wind – the fields of dead grass soon glowing with a soft luminous silver sheen.

P.M. Jury duty, at West Seneca court. A very interesting experience. The conflicting testimony of the two contending parties was such as to show that one or the other was deliberately lying. We had no difficulty in fixing the blame on the defendent [sic], who with his mother, obviously lied almost with every statement. The father was also present, but did not testify. I can see his eager grasping face yet with its beady snake-like eyes. They seemed entirely conscienceless.
