The trip to N.Y. for the Guggenheim Jury – Mar 1 – 4.
Feb. 28 – Sunday Evening to N.Y.
Mar. 1 – To Shelton Hotel and get settled – To gallery – Lunch with F – Evening dinner with F & Gen. O & his son. To movie
Mar. 2–3 – Guggenheim Jury. Afternoon & Mar. 3 to Modern Museum “Realists & Magic Realists”)
Mar. 2 – Evening – Dinner Geo. O & F – to movie –
Mar 3 “ “Frank & a young lady friend of his (Carol at water) – dinner at Fare’s – then movie – then to “Monkey Bar”. Two “lady” entertainers and a man at the piano – Late in the evening the man played old popular songs in which the customers all joined, a very pleasant episode.
Mar. 4 – Most of day at Gallery – lunch with Jack Spaulding at Robert’s – P.M. Speicher & Kanter in. Evening dinner at N.Y. Athletic Club with Gene & Elsie & Frank – then to Speicher’s apart – went for a chat – A pleasant “golden” hour –
A very satisfying trip – fine to be among people to whom art is still very much all in all –

Home again, I find a complexity of problems. The first few days low in spirits by a sore throat and cold – Difficult to get started again. I feel as tho [sic] I were wanting for something – something with mingled hope and dread. It brings on a mental and physical “paralysis” which it seems impossible to break – yet somehow I must get rid of it – regain my painting activity or I am indeed “lost”
