Back cover from Volume 45 in Burchfield's private journals. It is a handmade volume composed of cardboard covers and unlined paper fastened with 2 brass fasteners. It contains a newspaper clipping of a poem “March Wind” by Charles Louis Zorbagh and notations in pencil: “MISS BURCHFIRELD, C.P.D., 4/6/43.” Under the title of the poem is printed: “(On seeing Charles E. Burchfield’s painting ‘March Wind, at the Art Museum.)” A loose sheet of paper numbered 60a in titled “1943”, but begins “May 1, 1935- A dream.” June 13, 1944 entry contains list of nine paintings that were enlarged, with original dates and both old and new sizes. Some sections are highlighted with red pencil marks and notations in the margins.
