Girls home from Fredonia to play for girls voc. school festival - Drive to Woodlawn to meet them - On Lake Ave the row of poplars heavy with long reddish cat kins - (They lingered in my mind, and I though of walking under them with a feeling of North country across the road) -
Girls looking well and happy, excited over showing their new hair-cuts (called feather-cut) - Their hair looked nice, better than the old shoulder length -
Our supper gay - it is good for us all to be together again.
Evening - Just Sally + I to concert - Berlins + Nichols next to us.[i]

We thoroughly enjoyed the girls visit, and hated to see them go last night.[ii]

Puttering days - redding up yard. - Mounting "Lavendar + Old Lace -" and de-mounting the "Three Trees" preparatory to re-mounting.[iv]

A mild beautiful day - I feel at peace, and happy to be in my back-yard. Working + digging in the perennial garden,[v]
