Changing Hotel’s – (I was on the 23rd floor first week, 28th the second) renewed my interest in the city. I was in the midst of the mid-town towers and sky-scrapers, and got a real thrill out of the incredible scale of the buildings. Especially at sunrise, was it effective with the golden March-like sunlight lighting up the towers. And at night (there was a moon) the buildings loomed especially large. One night it was snowing slightly, but still the moon shone thru the mist with the Ritz tower in the front, a dark mysterious grotesque shape.[i]
