Colder – the sir cleared of fog, but murky with loosely low-hanging clouds – a thin film of new snow.
To Buffalo – to bank - + market – and to make more studies for “Winter” – (Stop at Barley Market for apples + potatoes)
Meet Sch. – near the market – we chat a while + I walk down to Rand Bldg. with him.

A sunshiny day.
p.m. To Werner’s beyond Varysburg, (CD) (CD) – (Examination week, the children have no school) –
We had a pleasant visit – There is something very solid + worthwhile about this little German couple – and their batchelor (sic) son who lives with them – Bertha though we should take something to her so we took the azalea plant, which pleased her.
She said Mr. W. was 86 years old. When he came in from his barn chores, he did not know us at first, but then he seemed very glad to see us again. Mrs. W. gave our dog a dish of bones which he ate with much gusto – and noise. Before we left, they gave us a bag of apples and a squash to take home.
We left, feeling a glow from our visit. For us, who now have no
