Real winter arrived Saturday with a heavy snow, and since there has been some snow every day sometimes with wind, and the temperature has hovered around zero. (Today at 10:a.m. it was 7 below)
The first snowfall (22”) came without wind, and piling up in the trees + buildings, the effects were strangely beautiful – The playhouse in particular has a great rounded cap, almost ridiculous because it is all out of proportion to the size of the building.
On Monday to Buffalo in the bus – (To convert children’s savings to Defense Bonds, + some other shopping - )
Finished the enlargement of “November”, then painted out the additions to correspond to the original piece – It gains greatly in spaciousness, and I feel more + more enthusiastic about the picture’s possibilities.
More or less snow-bound (difficulty getting the car in and out of the drive) I bought 3 – 25¢ mysteries to occupy my mind, and the rest of the family’s - !
Yesterday – B + I drove to Buffalo – primarily to buy (CD) + gloves for the girls at Fredonia – (we worry about their keeping warm.) To Market – tho I hated to go, for on last Sunday, it was partially ruined by fire. I have grown to love this old place, and would hate to see it go – The meat market was destroyed inside, but the shell remains intact, I hope they will repair it, and not rebuild –
