19. bleached out curled leaves of beech-sapling, shook rapidly as it passed thru them, trembling as if in fear.
The next day (Nov. 29, Saturday) – To meet the girls at Woodlawn, who were coming home for communion service. I took Cathy along – The weather was still fine with a wind from the S.W. – The girls had already arrived and were waiting for us.
Coming home I persuaded Bertha to go out with me to the plowed field, and make some photos. Art went a long with his camera, and his dog, Pal. We found the field still wet and glistening. We filled a roll of film.
After lunch, we all went out for a drive and walk. To Barker Rd, (which runs east from the Marill Rd. Park by the road, and walk east. The day changed somewhat – great swirling layer clouds, driven by the S.W. wind, - the sun sending great shafts of light thru openings at times.
The dense pine grove; - difficulty getting over barbed wire fence. B + M walk back to get car, while we go on. – Drive north a piece, to Route 20. – To Alden, then south to 354 again (extension of Clinton St) – Then to Three-Rod road. Some of us unsatisfied with our first walk, we park on the hill north of Williston. B + A, remain behind, while the girls + I start south, with the understanding that B was to pick Martha up in ten minutes, the rest of us later.
